Acoustical Measurements

Convenient accommodation, effective working condition

Are the noise limits kept? GL conducts acoustical acceptance tests according to specifications  (FAT, HAT, SAT, Privacy) on ships and offshore structures as well as special investigations concerning noise propagation in ship structures.

Acoustical Measurement during FAT
Driving-point impedance, air- and structure-borne noise measurement will be carried out on supplier's test bed foundation to check the current stage of acoustical behaviour of ship board equipment to be investigated, e.g. diesel engines, generator sets, gearboxes, compressors, pumps, AC cooling compressors, AC units etc. In case noise limit curves are agreed upon supplier and purchaser the measurement results are compared with the limits.

Acoustical Measurement during Building Phase
Driving-point impedance measurement will be carried out on relevant ship foundation during building phase of a vessel, e.g. diesel engines, generator sets, gearboxes, compressors, pumps, AC cooling compressors, AC units etc. The measurements should be conducted to check the current stage of the acoustical behaviour of certain ship foundations. In case noise limit curves are agreed upon supplier and purchaser the measurement results are compared with the limits.

Acoustical Measurement during HAT / SAT / Thrusters Operation / Privacy
Noise level measurement will be conducted during sea trials, harbour condition, thrusters operation, impact and sound insulation measurements etc. If the measurement conditions and the measurement results comply with the limits stated in the specified regulation / contract a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) can be issued.

Industrial Noise Measurement
GL measures the noise emissions and immisions which are radiating by ships and other vehicles operating in harbours etc into the neighbourhood.
Furthermore, GL conducts airborne and structure-borne noise measurements and carries out complete acoustical acceptance tests according to specifications of offshore and industrial costumers.
