These guidelines are in force since 1 May and apply to all ships excluding liquefied gas tankers. The internal combustion engine installations subject to the IMO interim guidelines may be single-fuel (i.e. natural gas) or dual-fuel (gas and fuel oil) machines, and the natural gas may be stored in gaseous or liquid state. The guidelines are to be applied in conjunction with the relevant provisions of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), 1974, and the Protocol of 1988 relating thereto, as amended. more

GL Certifies DB Schenker Rail According to ISO 28000 DB Schenker Rail Deutschland AG is Europe's first rail freight operator to be certified by Germanischer Lloyd Certification (GLC) according to the ISO 28000:2007 standard. The purpose of the standard is to reduce risks to assets, people, cargo, and facilities within the supply chain with regard to crime and terror, thereby increasing the level of reliability. Today, Bernhard Ständer, Managing Director of Germanischer Lloyd Certification, presented the certificate to Dr Klaus Kremper, Chairman of the Management and CEO of DB Schenker Rail AG / Member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Bahn AG.

6. May. 2009 | Noble Denton merges with GL The Norwegian cartel authority Konkurransetilsynet has approved the merger of Noble Denton with Germanischer Lloyd (GL). The two companies had announced their merger on 1 April 2009.
