Course objective
Participants will gain basic knowledge of the procedures aboard and ashore.
Emphasis
- The shipping company: structures and responsibilities
- The ship: types of ships, ship dimensions, hull, machinery, safety equipment, load line and tonnage measurement
- The crew: qualification and manning of ships
- The cargo: tapes of cargoes, charter parties and cargo documents
- The organisations and regulations in shipping: IMO, flag states, class societies, safety and marine environmental conventions
(including codes) - The insurance: transport, damage and P&I insurance
