Maritime Regulations

This module introduces the legal framework on ship inspections and surveys as well as the issuance of certificates. Distinctions are made between the requirements of the classification societies and requirements of the flag states.

The various survey types, their intervals and windows of time are presented, and contents and validity of the required certificates are explained. In addition, the planning, preparation and conduct of inspections and surveys on board are discussed. A brief explanation of how to handle the GL tool Fleet Online is provided and the database Equasis is introduced. Case studies are used to teach participants how to deal with rules and regulations as well as how to plan surveys.
