STCW 2010 Amendments
Managing Human Resources
In 2006 the IMO decided to thoroughly review the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) to ensure that it will meet the challenges that the shipping industry will have to face in the future.
The amendments were finalised at the 41st session of the STW Sub-Committee and adopted at the Diplomatic Conference in June 2010.
Within this module the most important amendments to the STCW Convention and the STCW Code are presented in detail. The participants are familiarised with these changes. New requirements for ships' crews, shipping companies as well as for shipping administrations are introduced. Practical case studies are used to illustrate the new requirements.
