New Requirements – New Document of Compliance
Certification for compliance with regulation II-2/19 of SOLAS
The requirements for the carriage of dangerous goods in packaged form have been changed with the new amendment to SOLAS including regulation II-2/19, which came into force on 1 January, 2011. The newly developed service GL Cargo provides valuable information for our clients on the changes in table 19.3 of SOLAS chapter II-2, regulation 19 and the revised standard format for the Document of Compliance for the Carriage of Dangerous Goods according to MSC.1/Circ.1266.
Moreover GL Cargo offers free access for our customers to a new database-aided service providing all information on the safe construction of cargo holds and equipment required for the carriage of individual dangerous goods classes in accordance with regulation II-2/19 of SOLAS, including all amendments adopted by Resolution MSC.269(85).
Based on a survey conducted by Germanischer Lloyd (GL) and review of documents and drawings the ship will be provided with the Document of Compliance for the Carriage of Dangerous Goods according to the new standard format as outlined in MSC.1/Circ.1266. GL is authorized by Flag State Administrations for the certification procedure.
Existing documents for ships in service will remain valid until reissue on the occasion of change of flag or class renewal. On special request of our clients GL will issue a new document premature in accordance with the new regulations and the new standard format.
