“Seafarers have human rights too” was the headline of a commentary on the International Labour Organization (ILO) Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC 2006) when it was passed more than five years ago. Now the convention has finally been ratified, meaning that there are fewer than 12 months until all ships that fall under the convention must be inspected and certified, where applicable.
Counting down to 20 August 2013
Certification now will help you pre-plan resources and avoid inspection scheduling pressures and delays during the expected high demand period.

ILO CERT
How does the MLC 2006 affect ship owners, ship managers and yards? Which ships does it apply to? GL’s ILO CERT product family has all the answers. Which services are right for you?

ILO ACCOM
Geared towards shipyards, this service provides two tailored solutions:
ILO 92 / 133, which is an existing standard to ensure compliance of crew accommodations if required by the Flag State, and MLC APPROVAL, which ensures compliance of crew accommodations with the upcoming MLC 2006.
MLC TRAINING
In addition to the certification programme, we offer international workshops and seminars to help ship owners, ship managers and crewing agencies understand the regulations of the Convention, as well as to implement its requirements. Please visit the GL Academy homepage to find out more: www.glacademy.com.
MLC CERT
Geared towards ship owners and managers, MLC CERT is the certification of compliance with the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006. It involves the ship manager's application for the Flag State's DMLC I, his preparation of DMLC II,, reviews and inspections by GL and the issuance of the Maritime Labour Certificate.
MLC NOISE & VIBRATION
N&V PRE-CHECK evaluates the likelihood of noise & vibration compliance with MLC 2006. Preventive action is initiated at an early design stage to avoid costly anti-noise and anti-vibration measures during or after construction.
N&V CERTIFICATION assesses your MLC 2006 compliance in relation to noise and vibration. It provides standardised measurement procedures in combination with an assessment of noise and vibration levels measured against limit values as provided by MLC 2006 or Flag States.
MLC CREWING
This service particularly addresses the needs of crew managers, crewing and manning agencies for successful implementation of the MLC 2006 requirements. MLC CREWING offers a certification based on the GL-developed 'Standard for the Approval of Seafarer Recruitment and Placement Service Providers'. A Certificate of Approval will be issued upon satisfactory document review following a satisfactory on-site verification of the implementation and effectiveness of the company's quality management system.
GL’s services can ideally be combined to provide a comprehensive planning, preparation, implementation and monitoring package for your MLC 2006 certification.
