GasTools
Planning Assistance for Distribution Networks
Used predominantly by utility and consultancy companies, GasTools provides a cost effective aid for a number of common planning activities.
SNAP
The main component of GasTools is SNAP. This is a National Grid standard tool for network analysis and design. Widely used within the industry, SNAP has the capacity and flexibility to model relatively complex networks. This allows the user to automatically determine the minimum pipe diameters required to achieve defined design criteria, whilst optimising cost savings.
SNAP is ideal for modelling small networks up to 3,000 pipes and offers the advantages of diversity and design capabilities. For users wanting a more powerful system offering a graphical interface with GIS capabilities, our SynerGEE Gas product would be more suitable.
Other GasTools Components
Diversity Calculator
Models the diversified demand for any combination of properties given their annual consumptions.
Service Calculator
The Service Calculator provides the following functionality for Gas systems:
Capacity Assessment - allows the calculation of the pressure drop in an existing service, enabling the assessment of additional loading capacity.
Component Specification and Optimisation - for given criteria the Service Calculator enables the calculation of the pipe diameters for new single services, and the verification of diameters for dual services.
The system also enables the calculation of the lengths and diameters of composite services to maximise pressure drop whilst minimising cost.
Governor Capacity Assessment System (GCAS)
Containing data for standard regulators, GCAS allows the user to carry out "what if" investigations into the flow capacity of various governor configurations. By allowing the user to specify inlet manifold and pipe configurations, this system also enables the assessment of limiting components.
Heat Recovery Programme (HTREC)
Allows the user to assess the impact of the Joule-Thompson cooling effect on systems and their surroundings.
Lost Gas Calculator
Calculates lost revenue resulting from an escape of gas for pipes operating at up to 4barg.
