GL Pegasus
Thickness measurements - the future now
A tool designed to accelerate the thickness-measurement process from beginning to end, from planning the scope of the campaign to the delivery of the reports. Save time and money with GL Pegasus.
Preparation and measuring
To initiate the time-saving Pegasus-based TM process, all a shipowner has to do is inform GL around eight weeks before the TM survey is to be performed. In this time, GL specialists construct a 3D structural model of the ship for hull-condition monitoring. This model does away with the need for manual drawings during measurements and saves a huge amount of time. The reason is that, by planning the measurements within GL Pegasus, all thickness measurements taken by the tool can be automatically transferred from the measuring device to the 3D model within GL Pegasus.
Reporting and assessment
GL Pegasus brings significant improvements to the reporting process, although the measurement task itself remains unchanged. Once the measurements have been taken and transferred to the program, reporting is done automatically. The reports that GL Pegasus produces comply with IACS requirements. In addition, GL Pegasus uses the TM data and the 3D model of the ship to allow immediate visualisation of the results. Shipowners can view the 3D model with the GL Pegasus Viewer. The ship model is supplied to the owner via the GL fleet-management tool, fleet online. This facilitates assessment of the condition of a ship's entire structure and its evolution over time, as well as supporting corrosion predictions and risk maintenance.
Lifecycle usage
GL Pegasus can be used for any type of ship. Ship owners can use the 3D model throughout the lifecycle of a ship to monitor the condition of the hull. So the benefits of better quality reports, easier assessment, support with corrosion predictions and improved work efficiency are enjoyed throughout a ship's lifecycle.
How you benefit from GL Pegasus
With GL Pegasus your reporting will become significantly faster. Your data will be of higher quality and you get no redundant input for reporting. If required, you'll receive a fast re-assessment of longitudinal strength, a 3D overview of thickness measurements and online access to the results. GL Pegasus provides standardised formats for historical data comparisons and supports the requirements for special ship types like bulk carriers and tankers.
