Spadeadam has been actively involved in the study of hydrocarbon fires and their consequences for over 20 years. A wide range of scientific instrumentation is available to study fires and their effect on structures and the surroundings. GL offers Interim Jet Fire Testing, full scale jet fires, liquid pool fires and water deluge.
Gas Vapour Cloud Explosion Tests
With over 20 years experience in studying gas cloud explosions, GL is a world leaders in the field. Major studies of explosions have included the several Joint Industry Projects in support of the oil and gas industry, in particular, GL was the main contractor for the full scale study of offshore explosions following the Piper Alpha disaster in the North Sea. Gas cloud explosions can be studied within confined or partially confined geometries or within regions of pipework and vessels, typical of process sites.
Using a validated scaling technique explosions in regions of pipework and vessels can be conducted at a reduced scale providing a cost effective approach to understanding explosion behaviour. GL offers Explosion Chamber, Offshore Module and Hydrogen Explosions.
