Custom and Extreme Conditions Testing

GL's in-depth knowledge and experience of experimental system design, operation and safety enable us to develop custom-made test facilities to evaluate the performance and behaviour of chemicals.

Custom Testing

This capability has proved invaluable in allowing the simulation of severe/extreme environments that fall outside the normal range of test conditions.

Examples include the evaluation of the performance of hydrogen scavengers under simulated production conditions, of the behaviour of chemicals when exposed to advanced caustic process fluids under simulated service conditions and of novel non-chemical corrosion control devices

Extreme Conditions Testing

Due to the remoteness of the Spadeadam site, this facility is able to undertake large scale testing under extreme conditions such as severe sour corrosion conditions and at high temperatures. The highly skilled team of engineers and technicians who operate the site specialise in conducting extreme service tests safely and efficiently. Corrosion Studies

Spadeadam has autoclave facilities and a large scale vessel suitable for intensive and long term testing for corrosion resistance of materials subjected to sour and corrosive environments, for example gaseous and liquid mixtures involving H2S or CO2. Other materials, such as polymers can be tested for their resistance to swelling or blistering when subjected to pressure and temperature cycling in the presence of process fluids.
