Materials & Failure Analysis
Our subsidiary Germanischer Lloyd Prüflabor GmbH (GLP) is responsible for the business segment Materials & Failure Analysis. GLP is a laboratory for the destructive and non-destructive testing of metallic materials. Apart from routine testing using the latest methods and equipment, we also offer our clients failure analysis and assistance with issues and problems relating to materials technology.
It goes without saying that these laboratories are certified by the German Testing Accreditation System (Deutsche Akkreditierungssystem Prüfwesen ~ DAP) according to DIN EN ISO 17025.
Our laboratory facilities range from a test workshop with the capacity to handle test items up to two tonnes in weight to fully-equipped destructive testing facilities, metallographic capacities, scanning electron microscopy and x-ray microanalysis.
Besides testing to accepted standards, we set great store by speedy service and client orientation.
In addition to our state-of-the-art equipment, we can also offer you highly trained staff with special qualifications you can benefit from. 50 highly-qualified material engineers and technicians operate from four laboratories in Hamburg, Mülheim, Herne and Stuttgart. In the field of non-destructive testing, for example, we have Level 3 (EN 473) training standards and our technical specialists include certified Quality Management Engineers, European Welding Engineers (EWE) and European Welding Inspectors (EWI).
Thanks to our close collaboration with GL's central competence centers in Hamburg, GLP customers benefit from a comprehensive damage analysis service and can call on the operational experience of GL's skilled personnel in the fields of maritime operations technology, wind energy and construction of industrial installations. We have a particularly close and fruitful working relationship with GL's central Damage and Repair Department in Hamburg.
