Germanischer Lloyd Scandinavia Now with Rainer Gutzmer at the Helm - Ulrich Wohlfeil Goes into Retirement

Hamburg / Stockholm, 29 April 2005 – Ulrich Wohlfeil, longstanding Area Manager for Scandinavia at Germanischer Lloyd, will be going into well-earned retirement on 30 April. He will be succeeded by Dipl.-Ing. Rainer Gutzmer.

At the farewell reception, Torsten Schramm, Division Manager for Central Europe, paid tribute to the achievements of Ulrich Wohlfeil in building up the surveying network in Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland and Denmark. The success of the Area Scandinavia is closely associated with the name Wohlfeil, who had been working for Germanischer Lloyd since 1981. Before that, Ulrich Wohfeil had been at sea as chief engineer, amongst others. Senior Surveyor Wohlfeil began his Scandinavian career in the year 1988 as the only Exclusive Surveyor for Germanischer Lloyd in Sweden. Besides expanding the business activities of Germanischer Lloyd in Scandinavia, Mr. Wohlfeil also set up the Scandinavian Committee in the year 2003.

Ulrich Wohlfeil’s successor as the new Area Manager is Dipl.-Ing. Rainer Gutzmer, who has been with Germanischer Lloyd for ten years now, initially in Korea and then as Area Manager in Japan and China. He took up his duties in Stockholm at the beginning of 2005.

Germanischer Lloyd is represented in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Denmark with 14 stations. The activities predominantly comprise the inspection of materials and components as well as attendance to the fleet in service.
