Expansion in Spain - Germanischer Lloyd opens new Barcelona office

Hamburg / Barcelona, 1 August 2005 – For an increasing number of exclusive surveyors, Germanischer Lloyd has extended its office in Barcelona. The new office in the “Mas Blau” business park will accommodate six surveyors and is located close to the international airport , as well as close to the commercial port and its new future extension of container terminals.

“Germanischer Lloyd has been active in Spain since 1964. The first Barcelona office was opened in 1982”, reports Jaime Pérez Vaello, Germanischer Lloyd’s Station Manager. “Until today, a large quantity of vessels has been supervised by Germanischer Lloyd in Barcelona. In 2003 more than 220 vessels had been surveyed, 240 in 2004, and I am expecting at least 280 surveys in 2005.”  In addition to surveys of the fleet in service, Germanischer Lloyd is engaged in the supervision of yachts newbuildings.
