New Country Manager for Sweden
GL expands business in Scandinavia
Gothenburg, Sweden / Hamburg, Germany - Germanischer Lloyd's expanding business in Sweden yet again requires larger office areas. The new and extended office facilities in Gothenburg have opened today. They now house both the GL Station Gothenburg as well as part of the Area Scandinavia Business Development organisation serving the clients with services for newbuilding and ships in operation. The Gothenburg Station is a busy one with the everyday Fleet in Service surveys and is also experiencing specialized surveys such as main engine fuel conversions. In addition, activities in the certification of materials and components and wind energy technology are steadily increasing.From the first of June 2009 Mr Robert Edner enters upon Managing Director GL Sweden AB and acting Country Manager. Mr Edner is a naval engineer, has since January 2007 served for GL Norway and in addition during 2008 as Station Manager Gothenburg. Mr Edner has previously worked at the Inspectorate of the Swedish Transport Agency in Stockholm. He has also served in engineering positions with shipping lines, such as Star Cruises from 1997 to 2003. Mr Edner succeeds Mr Roger Lundgren who now resumes full time for his senior surveyor position.
Germanischer Lloyd continues to extend its strong network in Scandinavia serving shipyards, supply industry and shipping companies. The classification society and technical assurance and consulting company is present in Stockholm/Akersberga, Gothenburg and Karlstad in Sweden, Turku and Helsinki in Finland, Oslo, Alesund and Bergen in Norway, Copenhagen, Alborg, Arhus and Fredericia in Denmark and in Reykjavik in Iceland.
